Is it difficult to travel abroad with a pet?
Pet travel internationally can be complex due to varying rules, but with proper planning, it’s achievable, including vaccination, to international customs regulations. You can do it yourself! You don’t need to pay an agency upfront, because even if you hire one, you’ll still be helping with all the paperwork anyway.
What documents does my dog need for international travel?
Typically, pets traveling abroad require health certificates, vaccination records (especially rabies), microchipping, an export certificate from AQCS, and import permits from the destination country. Always check the specific pet import rules for each country.
Can my pet fly with me in the airplane cabin?
Yes, you can fly with your pet in the cabin if your dog or cat, including their carrier bag, weighs up to 8kg. Always contact your airline before booking to confirm Pet in Cabin (PetC) availability and specific carrier bag dimensions for their airline’s pet policy.
What is the difference between a Pet passport and a Health certificate?
Pet passports and health certificates are different, primarily in their use and validity, even though they both require paperwork for pet travel. An independent certification provided by a veterinarian attesting to a pet’s suitability for travel and compliance with precise health standards for a given journey is called a health certificate. However, a pet passport is a longer-term, more thorough document that combines different health information, including rabies vaccination history, and can be used for more than one trip as long as the rabies vaccination is still valid.
Can I travel with my cat in the Cabin?
Yes, you can travel with your cat in the cabin if it meets all the guidelines given by your respective airline.
How can I book tickets for my pet?
- Currently, online pet tickets are not available. To book tickets, you need to contact the customer support before booking your tickets via call or chat and discuss the travel date, then they will help you choose which flight number you can choose that allows pets in the cabin.
- Once the flight is booked, you can chat/call to agent and add a pet to your ticket. After confirmation, you will get another ticket with the pet confirmed in your email.
What happens to my pet once it reaches the destination country?
Your pet will be taken for customs clearance. Your pet, along with the pet documents, microchip will be checked and then given back to you.
Is it safe to travel with my pet on an airplane?
Yes, it is safe to travel with your pet on an airplane.
Can I travel with my pet in a 3rd AC train in India?
No, you cannot travel in any class except 1st class AC when travelling with your pet in a train in India.
How early should I come to the Airport when travelling with my pet?
You need to come at least 3-4 hours before the departure of your flight.
What is the Rabies titre test?
You must obtain a negative rabies antibody test -authorized result from an authorized lab of the destination country, for example, a CDC-approved laboratory for the USA, and the result should be > 0.5 IU/ml. Your local veterinarian can assist you in doing an anti-rabies antibody titration test by following a 30-day anti-rabies vaccination. You cannot travel with your pet 90 days before the test.
